China's politic is best understood though its treatment of Tibet. It's opportunistic interest in Africa are best understood by attitudes it has held towards Black Chinese over centuries. It's military strategy is best understood by the Art of War. The balance of world power is shifting as China prosecutes its "Occupy Africa" movement. Financially occupying Africa is a method of progressing towards global dominance. Competing for the hearts and minds of Africa and its business is a ruse. It's not in the Chinese constitution to accept the African people as a human equals. This will not preclude them from exploiting African interests in the name of besmirching America. Shaming America, by Chinese standards, is an act of forcing Americans to lose face in the world whether they like it or not. If China can prove to the world they more intelligent, more benevolent, and more capable of globally administrating human resources they will become evermore emboldened. There should be no doubt military might will come into play at that time.

In addition to natural resources, Africa provides a massive source of labor. The ancient relationship of China and Africa is one of respect for the African militaristic prowess. This was firmly established during the Silk Road by African Muslim Warrior/Traders. Congress is right to be concerned. Until it is better understands the complexity of Confucian, Taoist, Buddhist, Communist mindset saber rattling and financial strategies will continue to be too little too late.

This blog has and will continue to be dedicated to chronicling the evidence clearly outlining what is to come. Anyone interested in understanding China should read every post here from beginning to end. There will be little doubt about China's progression of events their underlying meaning. Also look for my new book, The Last Plantation, available in early 2012.

An equivalent proportion of US aid “goes toward crucial but less visible support for people, particularly to fight Aids, malaria, tuberculosis and other diseases.”

China is building churches for Christians in Africa

Nairobi (AsiaNews / Agencies) - Chinese companies are building churches in Africa for all the various Christian denominations, taking over a job in the past occupied by Europe, and more recently by U.S. companies. At the Basilica of the Holy Family in Nairobi, for example, the Zhongxing Construction company is building a new building for the offices of the archdiocese of Nairobi.

"We worked with them previously, and we had a positive experience. We held a public competition, and they presented the best offer," said an official of the diocese. In the past, countries that sent missionaries to Africa also built places of worship. "Our brothers in faith, along with their companies helped to build churches. Now China has become a world power and wants to have a grip on Africa too”, said Ugandan Anglican Bishop Stanley Ntagali of Masindi-Kitara diocese in an interview.

In Kenya, the Chinese are building houses for the staff of the Archdiocese of Nairobi, as well as erecting a church for a national Pentecostal group, Evangelist Ministers of the faith. Another company, Fubeco Ltd (China Funshin) is building, the Catholic church of Our Lady of the Rosary, in Kiambu near Nairobi. The same company had built Luther Plaza, the headquarters of the Lutheran Church of Kenya. China, moreover, is a leading partner in trade with Africa, in 2009, surpassing both France and the UK. And in the construction sector regularly beats competitors offering lower costs...

China is also printing most of the Bibles used by Christians in Africa. Although religious freedom in China, especially for Christian denominations not recognized by the regime, is denied. Amity Printing Company, has doubled the number of Bibles printed in 2007, from six to 12 millions copies. And most of them spill out onto the African market. Article

While Black students struggle to make tuition in America, privileged in Americans who study abroad make inroads on the King story. This is the story behind the story of an otherwise notable effort to spread the King Legacy where it may be needed the most.

Regardless of the noble effort, the producer (daughter: Caitrin) admits she knows little of the Black experience in America championed in her work. Appropriation at its best, one wonders if any Black artists were invited to work on the project. Perhaps, but if not then when will the American Dream actually include the people that have struggled so deeply in America for inclusion?

Shall we just say, "a young American woman struggling to bring Martin Luther King, Jr.'s dream of nonviolence to China." Or can we understand this to be yet another incident of America's dominant culture portraying Black Americans abroad without thinking through the work still needed to be done at home. Dominance means doing whatever you want without anyone being able to stop you. So, the project is done and best wishes to the creatives who made the effort. On June 1, 2011, without much fanfare Michael Eric Dyson, Al Sharpton, Gospel programming, Tom Joyner and a lot of other folks found themselves tossed on their heads at Boston's historic Wild-AM station with the flip of a switch in China. 1090 AM, "Where Information Is Power, made real the subtext to this blog when Chinese-related programming under a lease agreement between Radio One and China Radio International began running without them. As a result, all news/talk, Classic Soul and Gospel programming that was heard on WILD were silenced, ending the station's 38 year legacy of serving Boston's African-American community. While China invests hundreds of billions in Africa they're slowly squelching the voice of African America. Black pundits and leaders, afraid of the Original Black Buddha's wisdom because of their ties to the Christian ideal, find out what's going on the hard way. Ouch!

"Hong Kong - Eleven Chinese women lured into prostitution in Africa have refused to be rescued after being tracked down by police from their home country, a news report said Saturday.

Police from China flew to the Democratic Republic of Congo in November in the country's first operation to rescue women trafficked to Africa, according to the Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post.

They found 11 Chinese women who had been promised decent jobs in Paris by traffickers but ended up working in a Chinese-owned karaoke bar in the country's capital Kinshasa, the newspaper said.

Chinese police official Yin Guohai told the newspaper, 'They make 100 US dollars for receiving one guest - half of the money goes to their boss and they keep the other half.'

As well as prostitution, the women, mostly from China's underdeveloped Sichuan province, were able to take cheap goods from China to Africa after visits home and sell them for big profits, Yin said." Article

China Deploying Carrier-Killing Missiles

"(Newsroom America) -- China is deploying a new ballistic missile capable of penetrating naval defenses and sinking U.S. carriers, a report said Tuesday, a move which could alter American military strategy in Asia.

The Washington Times reported that Adm. Robert F. Willard, commander of the U.S. Pacific Command, told a Japanese newspaper that the new Chinese missile had undergone extensive testing and development and was now ready to be deployed.

"The size of the missile enables it to carry a warhead big enough to inflict significant damage on a large vessel, providing the Chinese the capability of destroying a U.S. supercarrier in one strike," the USNI report added.

The road-mobile missile is designed to be fired into the atmosphere then re-enter and strike U.S. ships using complex guidance systems, low radar signature and a maneuverability to mask its flight path.

"Supporting the missile is a network of satellites, radar and unmanned aerial vehicles that can locate U.S. ships and then guide the weapon, enabling it to hit moving targets," the USNI report said.

Currently, the naval institute said, U.S. warships have no viable defense against ballistic missiles, making the DF-21 particularly menacing to American carriers and surface fleets. Article

How Beijing Won Sri Lanka's Civil War

"A year ago, one of the world's most brutal and pitiless terrorist groups, the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), was hunted down and exterminated on a strip of beach in the far north-east of Sri Lanka...

It was a great victory, the emphatic end of a terrorist gang whom no one in their right mind would mourn. But it was achieved in the teeth of opposition from the US and its allies, and at appalling human and moral cost. How had it been allowed to happen?

The answer, in one word, is 'China'. When the US ended direct military aid in 2007 over Sri Lanka's deteriorating human rights record, China leapt into the breach, increasing aid to nearly $1bn to become the island's biggest donor, giving tens of millions of dollars' worth of sophisticated weapons, and making a free gift of six F7 fighter jets to the Sri Lankan air force. China encouraged its ally Pakistan to sell more arms and to train pilots to fly the new planes. And, crucially, China prevented the UN Security Council from putting Sri Lanka on its agenda....
Money, arms and diplomatic cover are necessary preconditions for taking a war to its logical conclusion, but they are not enough. Also required is ideological cover: a casus belli that must go beyond the thirst for revenge, communal hatred or the urge of the majority to impose its will permanently on the minority. It must be possible to sell it as a just war. For this purpose, as Bob Dylan recognised a long time back ("With God on our side"), religion comes in handy.

"Montgomery County police obtained an arrest warrant for a former economist at the International Monetary Fund who flew to China a month after they believe he ambushed a supervisor in Bethesda, authorities said Monday.

Detectives don't know whether Mohau Mercy Mathibe, who is charged with attempted murder, is still in China. He flew there Nov. 22, police said. His ultimate destination could be South Africa, where he was born. Detectives also received reports of him possibly going to Japan, according to a police spokesman. His last known address was in Arlington County.

Citing local news media and rights advocates, it said that following last year’s financial downturn, “incidents of xenophobia are on the rise.”

“When I travel with my husband, we avoid buses and subways,” said Jung Hye-sil, 42, who married a Pakistani man in 1994. “They glance at me as if I have done something incredible. There is a tendency here to control women and who they can date or marry, in the name of the nation.”

For many Koreans, the first encounter with non-Asians came during the Korean War, when American troops fought on the South Korean side. Chinese Military Trained African American Received US Medal of Honor

When the Civil War ended, 21 African- American Soldiers wore the Medal of Honor. Blacks have earned our nation's highest honor in every war since then, except, strangely, during World War II. More than a million blacks served in that conflict and many bravely died in it, yet not one received any of its 433 Medals of Honor.

Finally, on Jan. 13, 1997, a wrong was addressed as seven black heroes joined those ranks. Our state proudly associates with one of them, a California native, the late Army Staff Sgt. Edward Allen Carter Jr. His is a story of a true military man with more than his share of tribulations. Today, the California State Military Museum celebrates his victory over all challenges except that of being physically here to receive our thanks.

A career Army noncommissioned officer, Carter was born May 26, 1916 in Los Angeles, Calif. He was the son of missionary parents who went to the Far East and finally settled in Shanghai, China. Edward ran away from this home when he was a young teen to begin a military odyssey. However, it was not to be an ordinary journey as his material and spiritual paths intertwined.

His first tour was short-lived, yet not too short to prevent the 15-year-old Carter from rising to the rank of lieutenant in the Chinese Army. When he was discovered to still be a child, he was promptly discharged and returned to his parents. It was also long enough for Carter to believe he was visited by a spirit in the Chinese Army, which informed him would be a great warrior, but would not die in war. Now having a spiritual military destiny, as soon as he was old enough, Carter enrolled in a Shanghai military school. There he received extensive combat training and learned at least four languages, including Mandarin Chinese, Hindi and German.

Next he fought in the Spanish Civil War as a corporal in the socialist Abraham Lincoln Brigade. It was an American volunteer unit opposing General Franco's fascist troops. In 1938, they were forced to flee into France. This led to his return to the United States. He enlisted in the U.S. Army September 6, 1941, shortly before World War II and quickly rose to staff sergeant.

In 1942, just months after he enlisted, however, the Army opened a counterintelligence file with his name on it. On May 18, 1943, an unidentified intelligence officer at Fort Benning, Georgia "deemed it advisable" to put Sergeant Carter under surveillance and start an investigation. alleging "while not necessarily communist," he had been "exposed to communism." The report further alleged, "Subject... capable of having connections with subversive. activities due to... early years (until 1938) in the Orient" and had a speaking knowledge of Chinese. Every commander Carter had thereafter secretly reported what he read, where he went and what clubs he joined.

At the height of his career he was even close to General George S. Patton, serving as one of the general's guards. Patton had no room for prejudice in the ranks. They had a strong bond with the fact they both believed they had been visited by a spirit who foretold accomplishments on the battlefield.

Actions Leading to the Bestowal of the Medal of Honor

"Carter's unit was the Seventh Army Infantry Company Number 1 (Provisional) attached to the 56th Armored Infantry Battalion, 12th Armored Division. In concert with the Third U.S. Army it was advancing toward Speyer, Germany on March 23, 1945. Speyer, a city of about 50,000 was a target in a race to secure bridgeheads.
The tank on which Carter, then 28, and other infantrymen were riding came under heavy small arms and anti-armor fire. Unit members thought the fire had come from a large warehouse on the outskirts of town. This resulted in him volunteering to lead three other soldiers on a patrol against the German position. They advanced toward the structure and took cover where they located and assessed the approximate enemy strength. They left this cover to cross 150 yards or so of open fields to the warehouse.

One American soldier was soon killed and Carter sent the two survivors back to hold the position covering his advance. There, another comrade was killed and the other seriously wounded by the German defenders. Carter inched his way to a place of safety behind a ridge 30 yards away and endured an exchange of gunfire with the warehouse. Along the way, his deadly fire knocked out two enemy machine gun nests and a mortar crew.

He paid a price though, as a machine gun burst put three bullets through his left arm. Continuing, he was knocked to the ground by another wound to his left leg. Then, after taking "wound tablets" a drink from his canteen was interrupted with another wound through his left hand. Three shrapnel wounds followed and were credited for pain he endured the rest of his life.

After enduring Carter's close proximity and periodic fire, German officers in the warehouse finally sent eight soldiers to flush him out and finish him off. He lay still for two hours until the patrol approached him, thinking the blood-soaked American soldier was dead.

Suddenly, Carter, seriously wounded, opened fire with his .45-caliber submachine gun. He shot six of the enemy dead and took the other two prisoner. Using them as a human shield, the sergeant made his way back to the American tanks. As another act of courage. Carter refused to be evacuated until he could report all he had observed and extract needed information about the enemy's emplacement from his German speaking prisoners."

After recovering from his wounds in less than a month, he was restored to his staff sergeant rank and finished the war training troops. When Carter attempted to reenlist, the Army barred his enlistment and drummed him out of uniform without explanation on September 30, 1949. It is unclear when it became known they had banished the decorated warrior as a suspected communist. He died peacefully of lung cancer in the UCLA Medical Center, a Los Angeles hospital, on January 30, 1963 at 47 years of age.

Sergeant Carter was laid to rest at the National Cemetery within the Veterans Hospital grounds in West Los Angeles near where he died.

In 1992 Secretary of the Army John Shannon commissioned an independent study to identify unrecognized African American heroes from World War II. In May 1996 the study was completed under the title, The Exclusion of Black Soldiers from the Medal of Honor in World War II. Staff Sergeant Edward Allen Carter Jr. of Los Angeles, California was identified and recommended for honors. January 10, 1997, Sergeant Carter was exhumed from the national cemetery and honored the next day in Los Angeles. On January 13, President Clinton presented Carter's posthumous Medal of Honor to his son, Edward Allen Carter III in Washington, D.C.

In 1998 Allene Carter, his daughter-in-law, received 57 pages of declassified Army documents in response to Freedom of Information Act requests. The documents showed the Army could not find a shred of disloyalty by Carter.

In an emotional ceremony in the Pentagon's Hall of Heroes, the day before Veterans Day 1999, the Carter family again met with President Clinton. Assisting the Commander-in-Chief was General John Keane, Army vice chief of staff. General Keane presented the Carter family with a set of corrected military records and belated posthumous awards for Staff Sergeant Edward A. Carter Jr. of the Army Good Conduct Medal, Army of Occupation Medal and American Campaign Medal. General Keane and the President extended a full apology to the family and the nation.

Myron Lowery is mayor of Memphis, Tennessee. In a recent statement he explained the welcoming intention behind his much scrutinized fist-bump and "Hello Dolly" greeting with the Dalai Lama. We should all feel much better and perhaps safer now that the peacefully intended gesture and comment have been publicly clarified. Likewise, visiting Buddhists dignitaries should be called upon to reassure Western leaders the intention of their 'pressed palms' greeting is not some kind of secret martial arts stance after which will come a dazzling flurry of swings and punches.

In the mayor's words:

"A day before His Holiness came to the city, I spoke to the Dalai Lama's protocol team and they said he would not be upset or offended being greeted this way. In fact it has happened in the past.

So, armed with this information I decided to greet him when he arrived Tuesday in a similar fashion. Not because of any concern about H1N1. I greeted him this way because I'm a down to earth guy, who was raised by a single mother with four sons in public housing. I still tell everyone to call me Myron.
